LEARNING

Studying and wrestling with traditional Jewish texts and contemporary sources of wisdom

Reconstructionist Judaism promotes informed and critical engagement with the vast textual tradition of our ancestors. We believe that each of us has a right and responsibility to approach Torah expansively. By putting personal experience and insight together with tradition, scholarship, and fresh sources outside the Jewish tradition, we fulfill the traditional mitzvah of "la'asok b'divrei Torah," "busying ourselves with Torah," and are able to draw meaning from its deep wells.
